Where did you grow up and where did you go to school?

I was born in Anderson, South Carolina, and lived there the first 20 years of my life. Knowing that music, teaching children, and writing would somehow form the basis for my life’s work, I completed undergraduate music degrees at Anderson University (SC) and Berry College (GA), and later returned to Berry to complete a master’s degree in education.

Where have you served as a minister and what type of ministries have you been involved in?

I have worked in children’s music professionally and as a volunteer since my senior year in high school, serving churches in SC, GA, KY, and FL. My first paid church staff position was as Director of Children’s Choirs for Vidalia Presbyterian Church (GA). I taught in public school for 17 years, and then 3 additional years in a private school. I was also an adjunct instructor in music education at Brewton Parker College for many years. In addition to my current ministry at FBC, Carrollton, I lead training events for children’s choir directors and write children’s music materials to aid in the ministries of others. Another important part of my ministry is editing The Chorister magazine which provides resources and support for church musicians as they work with children. Mentoring others in their callings is a big part of my ministry.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love spending leisure time with my husband, Glenn, especially when it involves a beachfront or mountain location. Reading books, journaling, browsing aimlessly in obscure antique shops, and eating food prepared by others are added pleasures. Posting whimsical pictures and anecdotes on social media of our dog, Anna, is also great fun. We enjoy time with family and friends, but especially with our 3 granddaughters.
