First Baptist Church cares about the needs of people. Through the Counseling and Pastoral Care Center, First Baptist is a helping hand to persons who may be facing a wide range of life challenges.

The Center conducts its ministry with professional confidentiality and concern. It seeks to work in connection with other professional members of the caring community in order to see that every person’s needs are addressed.

Dr. Ron Huggins, Counselor

Dr Huggins is a board certified pastoral

Counselor with a Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University, a Master of Divinity from Harvard University, a Master of Education in counseling and educational psychology from the University of West Georgia and a Doctor of Philosophy from Florida State University. Dr Huggins is a member of the Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counselors, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and Pi Lambda Theta, an international honor society.

With a professional ministry which spans over 40 years, Dr. Huggins stands ready to counsel persons and couples experiencing many varied issues.

Debbie Malloy, Counselor

Debbie Malloy

Debbie Malloy, MA, LAPC, graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She received her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Argosy University. Married to John Malloy, Debbie has one son, Tyler Crews.

Debbie has a passion for working with at-risk youth struggling with many issues including sexual abuse, neglect, deprivation and/or addictions. Her background includes immediate crisis intervention for the Carroll Rape Crisis Center, residential settings, and partial hospitalization. Her mission is to empower, educate and encourage by offering hope and assistance for coping with overwhelming stress.

Rev. Ed McGee, Counselor

Rev. Ed McGee

Rev. Ed McGee is a board certified pastoral counselor with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop University , Master of Arts in Christian Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Masters of Divinity in Psychology and Counseling from The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Ed is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He and his wife Kathy have two children.

With a professional ministry that spans over 25 years, Ed has a strong desire to see families have healthy relationships. He has worked with adolescents and adults in church and clinical settings. His goal is to integrate spirituality and counseling to bring about healthy change. Ed focuses on marital and family issues, premarital counseling, stress management, career counseling, conflict management, depression, anxiety disorders, and other issues.
