Pastor
Where are you from and where did you go to school?
I grew up in Dothan, Alabama and graduated from Samford University in Birmingham and then went to seminary.
I got my M. Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and then the Th. D. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, with a major in Old Testament studies.
Where have you served as a minister and what type of ministries have you been involved in?
I spent 10 years doing college ministry, primarily at Houston Baptist University. I have been a pastor for about 20 years, having been at First Baptist Carrollton for the last 15.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend lots of time with family, and at this point in our lives, that would be at ballgames or school functions that our daughter Natalie does. For years, we went to ballgames because our son, Tyler, now a college student, was a baseball and basketball player. I love watching sports, and I enjoy art.

Associate Pastor of Students and Education
Where are you from and where did you go to school?
Oakman, Alabama is my home. It isn’t a very big place, but it is a great place filled with many wonderful people. (Think Mayberry meets Walton’s Mountain).
I graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in communications. After working several years as a newspaper reporter, I returned to school to pursue a different calling. I graduated from Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology.
Where have you served as a minister and what type of ministries have you been involved in?
I have served either voluntarily or as an intern with several youth ministries. The youth, parents and congregations of Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock (AR), First Baptist Church of Huntsville (AL) and First Baptist Church of Decatur (GA) will forever hold a special place in my heart for the ways in which we served and learned about God and Christ together. Dutton Hill Missionary Baptist Church, the church of my childhood, and First Baptist Church of Williams (AL) played a significant role in my spiritual development. I have been involved in many construction-oriented mission trips and a ministry to my peers.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Give me a fishing pole and some hungry fish, and I’m good to go. Combine a good fishing trip with a chance to hike or camp, and I’m set. Few events beat a good football game, though. I also enjoy playing sports, growing vegetables and woodworking. I enjoy the occasional concert or play as well. But, I am most grateful for the time I get to spend with my family and friends.
